DKP SYSTEM OVERVIEW
DKP or Dragon Kill Points is a term that essentially describes a currency system where you earn rewards points for your attendance and contribution. These points can be spent to purchase equipment, recipies or other items acquired during raids.
All guild members holding a raiding rank will earn points for attending raids. There are two points pools, one for general loot and one for specific loot. For every point you earn, you are actually earning two (one point per pool). Specific loot refers to any item which lists a specific class or classes. It also includes any item that can only be used by one class whether it is listed or not.
This is done because it is commonplace for some class loot to drop more often than others. This invariably results in some classes paying less for class loot than other classes. Bidding against another class on a general item would be unfair if using the same point pool as it would be more difficult to accrue points for players from classes who have loot drop less frequently.
It is the responsibility of the player to ensure their points are in order. All care will be taken to ensure that points are paid in accordance with the award rate, but should you notice a discrepancy, please speak with your class enforcer.
EARNING POINTS
Points Allocation
5 points will be awarded to players who are in the raid at the scheduled start time. the points will be allocated at this time. An additional 5 points will be paid to players still present when the raid finishes. These points will be paid at midnight or when the raid is called, whichever comes first.
Bonus Points
5 points will be awarded for first time kills in recognition of the extra effort that goes into them.
Multiple Characters
Points are awarded to the raider not the character. You main character will hold your total points accrual but you may spend these points on either your main or approved alternate characters. Spend your points wisely as players who gimp their mains to gear up alts will likely find both characters being left out of raids.
SPENDING POINTS
Item Costs
Common = 0 Points Minimum.
Rare = 2 Points minimum.
Epic = 5 points minimum.
Legendary items will be allocated either based upon a pre-determined order agreed upon by the the elligible players or more likely... assigned by the officers based on character assassina... assinine... assessment. Based on character assessment! Relevant factors will be performance, attendance, loyalty, committment and the usual attitude test.
Bidding
We use a customised AddOn for DKP which raiders can download from our members area. When loot drops, an officer will loot and broadcast the items. All raiders who have the bidding module installed will see a graphical pop-up containing item icons with full item details, the minimum bid, the pool from which you must bid on the item and the number of points you have in that pool.
Our system is very similar to a Vickrey style auction. The bids are silent and no one but the bidder knows their amount until the bidding round has closed. The raider who has placed the highest bid will pay an amount equivalent to the amount of the second highest bid +1.
When 2 identical pieces of loot drop at the same time, it is treated as though it were only 1 item. Normal bidding rules apply but the top two bidders will pay the third highest bid +1.
Preferential Bidding
No preference is given to any player or any character of any rank. Persons who are new to the guild or who are raiding with an alternate character are working just as hard as anyone else and can bid as they see fit. Longer standing members should have significantly more points with which to bid and win auctions so there is no disadvantage.
RULES & EXCEPTIONS
Dropping Raid
Never drop from a raid until told to do so by an officer or raid leader or until you have beeen removed. Doing so may forfeit your points allocation.
Lateness
There is currently no penalty for being late to a raid, however you will not earn points unless asked to attend by an officer or raid leader and you are present at the end of the raid to receive the second allocation. To clarify this... being online and available does not earn points. One of your characters must actually be required and placed into the raid if you want to get paid.
All raiders are asked to commit to our schedule when joining the guild and we expect punctuality. Your reward is exciting progression, phat loots and our delightful company during the journey, DKP is simply spending money. Persons found to deliberately not participate in raids because they have missed the starting points allocation will find themselves demoted and replaced.
Sitting Out
If you are asked by an officer or raid leader to sit out during part or all of a raid, you will earn the full point entitlement for that period as though you were in attendance. This is of course conditional upon your being present at the raid start time and still being online at the raid finish time. We understand if you choose to log out for the night but you cannot be paid if you are not available to contribute.
Alternate Characters
Alternate characters will not be allowed on raids unless specifically requested or approved by the raid leader or an officer. In this case, your points will be allocated to your main character at the same rate as any other player. We need alts as backups for absent main characters and we encourage players to have as many as practicable for their play time.
Alternate Raids
We want active, happy members, not slaves. Raids for alternates are encouraged so long as they do not conflict with other scheduled raids or impact upon your main character's performance. If sufficient interest is shown, we will run raids for alternates on non-scheduled raid nights or on raid nights when no current content remains to be completed.
Players may bring their main characters to alternate raids if there are still items they want from the content or if they are seeking reputation with that faction. Points will be awarded as per the standard system. If your main character is already bound to the instance due to raiding it during the week, you will still be paid your points allocation if you are available at the start and finish of the raid. We do not want to penalise people for not having alts, nor do we want alts to not be paid for their contribution.
Botting and Dual Boxing
We pay DKP to the player, not the character. If you are asked to play someone elses character, you will earn DKP at the full rate for YOUR main character. You cannot play someone else and earn points for them. You CAN however bid with their points on items for their character if you have the authority to do so, (which it will be assumed you do since you have access). Owners and renters be wary on this point, there won't be any points refunded for poor decisions. Give your details out at your own risk. When dual boxing two or more characters (regardless of ownership) the points earned are payed to the player, not the characters. Points will be added to your main character. You are one person so you earn one set of points only. This is because dual boxing is not a desirable solution and performance is limited.
Switching Mains
From time to time, raiders might choose to switch between classes and nominate a new main character. Your current main will be demoted to alternate but it is a requirement that you discuss the change with both your new and existing class enforcer before committing to the decision as they may not promote your new main to raider rank. You absolutely have the right to play the class that you enjoy most but you cannot presume the new choice will be required by the guild.
Guild Grouping
Instances are an excellent means for most players to earn gold for materials and repair bills. There is no expectation that you should turn in items, equipment, recipes or disenchanted materials to the guild. Some players like to do this, some players don't. Check what kind of group you are in before you start. At this time there is no DKP bonus point structure for members who donate or farm materials for the guild.
Farm Status
In your real jobs you earn currency points for your attendance and contribution. If you weren't paid, you wouldn't go. Raiding is no different. Even when a zone has reached farm status and the majority of members no longer need gear from the zone, you will still earn points at the same rate because your participation is not only appreciated but also required for success. If you're expected to attend, you should be rewarded for your efforts.
Connection Issues
While everyone occasionally experiences connection issues and we all appreciate how frustrating it can be, the guild cannot give away points for people who are asked to leave the raid or who are replaced while disconnected. You will still receive your points for on time attendance but that is all. _________________

Please remember.
* Loot is for Archaeus raiding progression. *
Should you be considering changing your raiding commitment you should cease to bid on loot until you are certain that you are committed to Archaeus raiding progression again.
Should you be considering a holiday, or work, or school needs you to take a break of more than a week you should consider not bidding on items that may benefit the guild.
Finally DKP is a loot allocation system for Archaeus raiding progression. Due to the way we raid we find that loot allocated through DKP serves our purposes better than officer assigned loot. Whether you have more DKP than another person is totally irrelevant to obtaining an item before them. 9/10 the system works as you expect however once in a while that item you might have your eye on might be given to someone else. Less QQ more PewPew. DKP is not money, it does however mean that you are more likely to get the next item you bid hard on.
Simple examples are healers bidding hard on caster dps gear or dps on tanking gear or an item that is best in slot for one class or spec. One might expect to see the steady guiding hand of common sense on the back of your head if you bid on this stuff and expect to buy the loot. _________________
